A morning coffee is an integral part of many people's routine. Along with giving us the boost we need to function, it gives us something to look forward to in the morning. But now, research shows that drinking coffee can provide so much more than just a jolt of caffeine - it can actually aid your health!

If you're looking for a reason to drink an extra cup or two in the morning, you might want to give this blog a read. We'll discuss the many amazing benefits of drinking coffee - not just for your health, but for your skin as well.

Coffee and Your Health

Coffee can help improve your heart health and reduce diabetes risk. Studies have found that coffee can lower both the level of bad cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood as well as reduce blood pressure. Coffee consumption also appears to have a protective effect against liver disease, diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and even some types of cancer. By drinking coffee regularly, you can reduce your risk of liver cancer by up to 65%.

In addition to reducing your risk of these diseases, coffee can also improve your mood and overall health. Studies have shown that coffee has the same amount of antioxidants as several fruits and vegetables. It can also increase metabolism and aid in weight loss. Drinking coffee regularly will help you stay alert and focused throughout the day - which is great for students or anyone who needs to be on their toes during work hours.

Coffee for Skin

Many people make the mistake of thinking that coffee is bad for your skin. But it's not true! In fact, drinking coffee can actually lead to clearer, more radiant skin. Coffee has several anti-aging properties, including the ability to prevent skin aging by repairing damaged cells and protecting your skin from free radicals. Even better, many people have reported that drinking coffee has a positive effect on their acne.

Coffee for the Face

A recent study showed that coffee can be a great facial toner by gently exfoliating your facial skin. When applied to a cotton pad, coffee gently cleans pores and removes excess oil from the skin. This makes it an excellent facial cleanser! Coffee also contains tannin, which is known to reduce pore size and help clear blemishes. A coffee scrub can help you reduce any excess oil and give your skin a healthy glow.

How to Prepare a Great Morning Coffee?

Now that we've established how much good coffee can do - let's talk about how to make a great cup of morning joe! There are a lot of different ways to prepare a cup of coffee, but here is the tried and true method that ensures a great cup:

First, you should always start with fresh, whole beans. Beans will lose their flavor over time and become stale before they even reach you - so it's best to buy only as much as you need. If you're feeling particularly lazy, make a DIY coffee substitute! We'll talk more about that in a minute...

When preparing your coffee, make sure that you use high-quality ground beans. Shop for whole beans in small batches at your grocery store. Grind the beans yourself so that you know they haven't been sitting around for weeks. Using a coffee grinder is the best way to make sure the beans are evenly ground.

Once they're ground, put the coffee in a French press or regular coffee pot and add water. As a rule of thumb, use one teaspoon of coffee per every four ounces of water. Place your pot on the stove and turn on medium heat for about five minutes. After five minutes, remove from the heat and let it sit for about three to four minutes. This will allow the coffee grounds to settle at the bottom.

Pour slowly into your favorite cup (check out our store for some of the most amazing looking ones, right here) and enjoy!

If you're not a big fan of coffee's bitter taste and don't have time to make a whole pot, you can prepare a great cup with an alternative recipe:

Brew tea (everyone's favorite herbal beverage) as usual. Add a shot of strong espresso and mix.

This recipe does require a bit more prep time than your typical morning beverage, but it will give you the same health benefits as coffee and still taste great!
