Summer is so close you can almost taste it. But before you pack your swimsuit and hit the pool, consider packing a few new socks into your suitcase.

There are many different types of socks on the market these days, and they each have their own unique strengths. Some are shiny to stand out in the crowd, but others provide more comfort for long periods of time or for those that have sweaty feet.

- Cashmere Socks

Cashmere socks are great choice because they're not only soft, but they're lightweight, too. The lightweight aspect of cashmere is a big bonus that you don't get from other types of socks, so it's perfect for sports like running. They feel smooth against the skin and the softness will often mask any useless rubbing and blisters that can occur when running for long periods of time. One problem with cashmere though is that it's expensive.

- Bring some extra socks with you

No matter what your favorite type of sock is, it's always good to have a few pairs in your suitcase because you never know when you'll get the opportunity to take a trip. And if you're planning on taking a long trip, consider taking along a nice pair of tea socks to wear around the house. They not only work great as pajama pants or for lounging around the swimming pool, but they also provide great comfort. And if you're looking for something extra warm, try a pair of sock slippers.

- Different colors and different styles

Another way to get creative with your trip is to bring along a few pairs of socks that aren't the same shade or color. A good example is a fun patterned sock and then a classic black or white pair; it's not only fashionable but it's original as well. You'll have fun wearing each pair and everyone that sees you will be sure to notice your unique fashion sense.

Some other ideas to consider are carrying a few pairs that go along with your wardrobe style or your favorite color. For example, carry a pair of socks that are similar in tone and fabric to your dress shoes or leather boots and then you have something to wear with them if you don't want to wear white socks, for instance.

- Printed ones are never to be scared of.

If you're feeling creative, think about wearing some different types of socks during different times throughout the day. For instance, you could wear a pair of fun printed socks with your business suit in the morning, and then switch over to the more comfortable woolen ones in the afternoon. This is a great way to make sure you're always looking your best and still feeling fresh.

Although we don't typically think about socks when it comes to traveling, there's no reason why you should forget about them now. There are so many different kinds and styles that you can purchase and you're sure to find one that fits your style perfectly. Getting a few new pairs is a great way to personalize your suitcase and make it stand out from any other.

It's also a great idea to take along some extra socks for when you want to do some spontaneous shopping or go on an impromptu tour of the city. You won't want to be stuck wearing a pair of the same kind of socks all day, so wearing the extras can give you that extra push to hit up the local store and pick up some new styles.

And don't forget about those last minute packing decisions either. You never know when you'll get stuck at an airport before your departure time and end up with a suitcase full of one-use items. It's best to be prepared so you don't end up wearing the same shoes or socks that night. When you pack a few extra pairs of socks along with your other items, you'll always have some extras handy in case something goes wrong and you need to do some last minute shopping.
